Material Features

The Fuji Suparaito BJJ Gi is made up of about 350 GSM of premium cotton fabric. Fuji’s design is so light, you almost feel like you aren’t wearing a uniform! In fact “Suparaito” literally means “Super Light” in Japanese. When they’ve designed this Gi, they had it being super lightweight in mind.

The lightweight material makes the FUJI Suparaito a perfect candidate as a summerweight Gi. It’s completely breathable and perfect for hot weather training sessions.

The material is super soft and comfortable. Its made up of a premium cotton fabric, very soft to the touch. One thing to consider also is that unlike most Gi’s the material is fairly snug. It doesn’t stretch a whole lot. Now this can be a bad thing during practice as it makes gripping your uniform much harder. Bad for training, but an absolute plus during competition!

Fuji Suparaito BJJ Gi Kimono Uniform

The Gi trousers is made up of a ripstop and cotton blend. It’s triple reinforced and extra reinforced in the knee pads. They’re super durable – these things can take some punishment. Another excellent feature is the bungee cord drawstrings with four belt loops on your trousers for added security to make sure your pants stay on real snug, even with the toughest rolling session.

Design Features

If you know FUJI’s gear, they like to keep it as simple as possible. As they originally were founded with Judo origins, they like to keep their Gi’s plain like you’d see most Judogis out there. And that’s what you get with the Suparaitio.

The Fuji Suparaito BJJ Gi has a very simplistic and clean design. The Gi features the FUJI Suparaito Kimono lettering embroidered on the left sleeve of the kimono top. It also has the Suparaito logo featured on the low left edge of the Gi. The same embroidery found on the sleeve is also featured on the back of the uniform as well as the lower right leg of the trousers.

Fuji’s Gi has “Suparaito” letterings both in English characters and in Japanese characters across the bottom edge of the uniform. It gives it a nice finishing touch!

Fuji Suparaito BJJ Gi Uniform Fit

Overall the Fuji Suparaito BJJ Gi has a very clean and simplistic look. Just like most their Gi’s in does a great job at not overpopulating the Gi with too many embroideries and insignias, all the while still maintaining a stylistic look.

The Fuji Suparaito is offered in your traditional BJJ Gi colors, white, blue, and black. For a more traditional look, the white and black are great. But if you want a little more flash while still maintaining class the blue has a nice touch as it features a neon stitching, making your Gi pop a little. The Gi has a very slick tapered look, giving it a real nice professional look and a premium feel.

Fuji is no stranger when it comes to making premium gear. They make some high quality BJJ mats, rash guards, and BJJ Gis. And you can certainly tell they really put in the stops with their Fuji Suparaito BJJ Gi. This Gi is phenomenalIt’s light, comfortable, and stylish – everything you’d need in a Gi.

PROS

  • Super lightweight material, very breathable and easy to move around with!
  • Superior Comfort, Premium Cotton Fabric with Ripstop Reinforced Collar
  • Triple Reinforced Stitching for Maximum Durability
  • Bungee Cord Drawstring, Multiple Belt Loops for Added Security

CONS

  • Fabric has very low elasticity to grab onto
  • Uniform Shrinkage - but very minimal
  • Pants do fray a bit at the seams after several washes
  • A bit on the pricier end for a light weight Gi Uniform

Though there are several aspects to the Gi that makes it highly desirable, it does have its minor drawbacks. One of the bigger drawbacks would have to be from the washing.

As with many other cotton Gi’s, the uniform does shrink a bit. On the upside though, this particular Gi had very minimal shrinkage – which is quite impressive, especially for a very light Gi like this one. Another big one is that the Pants do fray on the in seams of the stitching. This is quite common for lightweight Gi’s and its apparent with this Gi after several washes.

Lastly, the fabric does have very low elasticity, making it increasingly difficult to tug on. Your training partners won’t be a fan of your Gi as its sort of difficult to grab onto. They won’t be able to drill their Spider Guard or Worm Guard techniques on you!

On the contrary, the Gi does provide a ton of positive reviews. It’s super lightweight and breathable, making it one of the most desirable Gi’s you would want especially on a hot summer day. It’s perfect for competitions too, it wont be adding too much weight on you if you are trying to make weight. Plus your guard passes will be lightning fast with this super light Gi!
