Sanabul Core Series Competition BJJ Gi Review

Sanabul Core Series Competition BJJ Gi Review

A lot of companies bloomed due to the increase in popularity of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, as well as the combat sport, MMA. One of those is Sanabul. Now one of the most prominent fight sports equipment companies in the world, Sanabul prides itself on their low-priced but high-quality products.

There isn’t a single piece of equipment for fight training that Sanabul doesn’t sell. But one they are particularly known for are their BJJ Gi’s. They are one of the most affordable ones out there with fairly decent quality GI’s. One we particularly liked is the Sanabul Core Series Competition BJJ GI.

Material Features

The best way to describe the Sanabul Core is that it is lightweight and comfortable.

Made with professionals in mind, Sanabul made sure that the Core Series Competition BJJ Gi is made out of lightweight material. This, along with its single-weave design, makes the Gi very comfortable to wear, even when training during the hot and humid summer months.

The Gi is also preshrunk, so you can expect only a little shrinkage when you do put it through its first wash cycle.

Design Features

They say that the devil is in the details, and that’s evident with the Sanabul Core Series Competition BJJ Gi

Not only is it designed to be preshrunk to minimize any sizing and fit issues, but the Gi is also a lightweight Gi that has heavy materials right where they’re needed. This includes a denser weave on the go, as well as cross-stitching on the pants. This is in addition to the dozens of small but important improvements that Sanabul has made for their Core Series Gi.

In doing so, the Core Series Gi will make it easier for you to move around during a match. At the same, these small alterations can make it more difficult for opponents to grip you in the middle of the match.

It’s offered in Black, Blue, Grey, Navy and White. And it features stylish accents in light blue, silver, red, orange, and blue respectively, depending on which Gi color you choose.

Final Thoughts

Is the Sanabul Core Series Competition BJJ Gi perfect? Not exactly.

There are a couple of minor gripes regarding the Core Series Gi.

For example, these Gi are known for refusing to break in no matter. This isn’t as big of an issue, but for those who prefer something that, well, fits only them, the Core Series Gi might not be a good fit.

Perhaps it’s because of the inside seams found on the wrists and the ankles, or how it’s pre-shrunk already so it won’t shrink as much compared to other competition BJJ Gi.

Regardless, this is both a good thing and a bad thing, depending on how you look at it.

Also, there are users complaining about scratchy stitching.

With that said, this is an issue remedied by wearing long sleeve rash guards and spats, which you should, by the way, for added protection.

All in all, if you’re looking for a step-up over your basic and standard BJJ Gi, you can do a whole lot worse than the Sanabul Core Series Competition BJJ Gi.

The Sanabul Core Gi doesn’t fancy itself as a premium offering. The price tag alone should tell you that it’s more for the masses. But, at first glance, you’d be forgiven for thinking that this was made to cater to those willing to pay more for their BJJ Gi

The flashy and attractive designs can make the Core Series Gi look more expensive than it is.

Of course, if you come in with high expectations, prepare to be disappointed. Again, this is not a premium product. Instead, Sanabul designed this Gi to be budget-friendly and be light, as well as comfortable enough, to move around in, even in the hottest and warmest of weather conditions.

Those looking for more premium features won’t be satisfied with the Core Series Gi can offer.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for an affordable Gi that’s better than your run-of-the-mill basic Gi, it’s hard to beat the value that this Gi brings to the table.
